TechTuesday: Agile Microdosing

Tuesday, October 15, 2024 (11:30 AM - 1:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

TechBirmingham is excited to host Jeff Talley, Principal at Homewood IT, as part of our #TechTuesday series. Jeff will guide us through Agile Microdosing—a session focused on stripping away the unnecessary layers and reclaiming Agile’s core principles of flexibility, collaboration, and people-centric success.

About the Program

“Free Agile” – In February of 2001, seventeen leading experts in software development met at the Snowbird Ski Lodge in Utah to figure out what was wrong with the practice of software development. Worldwide, projects were failing on such a scale that these people felt something had to be done. What came from that conference is now known as “Agile”. Over the years, Agile grew into a household name that is now applied to projects and processes of almost every conceivable kind. However, what we know as Agile today is far from agile. It has become bureaucratic, burdensome, process-centric instead of people-centric, and in most ways the very antithesis of its founder’s vision. In this talk, we will explore ways to strip away all of that baggage and return Agile to it’s original promise as a philosophy dedicated to the success of its practitioners.
